is approximately 208 kilometers Northeast of Davao City, 152 kilometers
South of Tandag, the capital town of Surigao Del Sur and 158 kilometers
Southeast of Butuan City. Approximately 50 kilometers of all weather
and dirt road lined with fast growing trees, a product of PICOP's
Industrial Tree Plantation Program. Topography is characterized by extensive mountain ranges, which are mostly forestall. The major mountain ranges with an elevation of 100 meters and higher are found in the boundary of barangays Labisma, Tabon, San Antonio, Sta. Cruz, Coleto, San Roque and Borboanan. About 42.13 % of the municipal land consist of highlands and others are lowlands. Bislig has only one private industrial seaport owned by PRI where domestic and foreign cargo vessels are berthing catering to the needs of the company. The concrete runway of this commercial airport can accommodate light commercial planes of the Fokker 50 class. One of Bislig's main attractions is the Tinuy-an Falls. The white sand beaches of the nearby Hagonoy Island, a 30-minute ride on board a motorized banca, is also a good swimming resort. Barangay Mangagoy is the center of trade of the town. It houses four National Banks and local ones. Motorized tricycles, jeepneys, and buses ply its concrete roads and highways. Bislig is the home of PRI (Picop Resources, Inc.), one of the largest paper mills in the country. Its concession is a sanctuary of the Philippine Eagle. |
